Description
Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy is a form of the Hindu god Vishnu, and is the presiding deity of the Kalyana Venkateswara Temple in Srinivasamangapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple is located about 12 km from Tirupati.
Kalyana Venkateswara is depicted as standing in a majestic pose, with four hands. His left hands hold a conch shell and a chakra, while his right hands are in the abhaya (fearlessness) and varada (boon-giving) mudras. He is adorned with a crown, jewels, and a garland of flowers.
The name Kalyana Venkateswara means “Lord Venkateswara who is always in a state of marriage.” This is because the temple is dedicated to the marriage of Vishnu and Lakshmi. The temple is also known as Srinivasa Mangapuram, which means “the abode of Srinivasa.”
